Querying the Battlefield

Man with laptop looking confused

We have officially started our quarter of a century journey here in 2025!  Wow! Where has the time gone. As you may, if you subscribe to the blog, I have begun querying book 1. What is querying you may ask? Good question! It is the process by which you market–or try to sell–your work to a literary agent. If successful, this agent takes your manuscript and sells it to publishers as your advocate. This is the traditional route to publishing. It can be arduous, cumbersome, and confusing if one is not familiar with the world of writers.

As an aspiring author, I am not familiar with it. However, I have been researching and finding a slew of helpful information online. There are so many forums, socials, and groups available for newbies. And…. I am that newbie. Although it can be daunting, I press on because I know that nothing worth having comes easy.

So, where does that put me in the path to sending letters to agents? Well, I have submitted approximately and have received multiple denials. This is too be expected as there is a story for every persona and person for every story. Sometimes it takes awhile before those two factors coalesce, and that is okay. I am patient and dedicated. I believe that the stories I tell will grab hold of the reader in ways that impact them for years to come.

If you have not yet done so, subscribe to the newsletter so you can stay up to date. You will get a monthly email with all the goodies in it. See how the query process is going. Stay up on new content and emerging works, or just read a few blogs posts. Follow me on the socials and share content so the story will reach that person it was meant for. Until next time, press on!

The Scam is Real As a new … as a self-….no that isn’t correct either. As a “hope to be soon newly published author,” I find interaction with other writers/authors exciting.
