Kassander Character Bio: Rayne

  • Hair: Brown, shoulder length, wavy curly locks
  • Eyes: Green
  • Style: Bow & Arrow, Small daggers
  • Occupation: Meetinghouse caretaker
  • Personality: Kind, compassionate, adventurer, wise, intelligent yet apprehensive

Rayne, the girl that showed up at the Heart Guard gate when she and Erramuun were just small children, is Erramuun’s closest confidant. Her birthplace in Thearekt was the only bit of her past offered to Melek by the strange woman who turned her over before disappearing into the night never to be seen again. This is most difficult for Rayne as it clouds her identity and self-worth, yet simultaneously it drives her to greatness.

She thoroughly enjoys studying the various kinds of wildlife throughout the land and keeps a notebook where she categorizes, in meticulous detail, all the fantastical animals she finds. Her aspirations to one day open a fully functional animal care shop compel her to bring her notebook everywhere. Working as the meetinghouse caretaker, she cleans, organizes, and cares for the meetinghouse. This gives her ample opportunity to engage in one of her favorite things—people. She loves others and seeks to be a help where she can.

While she is not working or serving she spends her days with Erramuun exploring the land, growing in skills of combat, studying the oracles of the past to learn more of Heart Guard—and perhaps her own—and helps with many daily chores around the fortress. The most enjoyable time in Heart Guard—in all the land of Kassander—is the Great Festival. This multi-day annual event is her most favorite. It is during this event, in some strange way, that Rayne feels a close connection to the past. Although each year follows similar preparation and celebrations she may find that this year’s festival will bring about change that will effect her for ages to come.
