Kassander Regional Bio: Petros

Petros Region

Petros is firmly planted upon the Great Dunamis (doon-A-miss) Mountains, surrounded by rock, stone, and gem. This fortress specializes in armor, gems, and precious stones supplying much of the materials that were used to build the many fortresses in Kassander.

The skill of the stone masons, gem miners, and builders is unmatched in all the land. From sculptures and jewelry, to armor, buildings, and weaponry, Petros produces the raw materials used throughout the Kingdom. Some sculptors have traveled as far north as the ice lands to produce crystal clear renditions of their imaginations.

Location

Positioned in western hemisphere near the Great Sea, although difficult to sea given its elevation, it maintains both an offensive and defensive advantage. To the south is the Stenos (stin-OSS) river that splits the land between Petros and Sophias. Coming in from the Great Sea, the river feeds the Stenomakros (stay-NOM-across) Lake that is flanked by the Megalos Forest to the East and Sophias to the West.

Two ports sit opposite each other offering both regions the ability to engage in the importing & exporting of goods, services, and making inland travel more accessible.

The Fortress

The keep at Petros is reinforced with thick outer stone barriers the length of its foundation and almost as high. The robust wood gate is covered in iron bars, a portcullis, and fashioned with various chains and pulleys operated from within. As the gate rises, travelers are welcomed into a bustling city where cobblestone pathways splinter into various directions.

The markets are known far and wide for their prestigious offerings of the most exquisite jewelry, armor, and weaponry. Banging and clanking sounds reverberate throughout the lower portions of the fortress where the masons are ever busy at work.

Many citizens from the region and other parts of the Kingdom make their home in Petros. The second level is filled with homes, armories, aqueducts, and various gathering places where all manner of celebratory feasts take place with overwhelming regularity. Don’t forget to visit the many food markets with their locally sourced and fresh options. Enjoy your stay until it is time to make our way down to Sophias.
